Let the magic begin! Harry Potter and Philosopher's Stone swept the world off it's feet in 2001 and the book before that. J.K. Rowling is to me, one of the biggest authors ever. Of course Charles Dickens is big and Henrik Ibsen is considered one of the litterary founding fathers in Norway
(even though I don't like his pieces, I understand that they were ground breaking, but to me they're out of date looooooonnnngg ago) No other author in recent history have moved so many peoples life as Rowling. Despite her hard life, she created a magnificent and magical world that many wanted a part of. The idea of being preforming magic gives me a tingly feeling. I would love to live in the HP universe!

I remember when the first book came out, I had to read it in Norwegian cause I wasn't that steady in English at the age of 9, so had no choice. First of all, the translater Torstein Bugge Høverstad must have been drunk, high on coke and loopy when he decided to "Norwegian-ise" the names in the Harry Potter world. Norway's the
ONLY country in the world that have done it to this extent...
Harry Potter = Harry Potter
Ron Weasly = Ronny Wiltersen
Hermione Granger = Hermine Grang
Hogwarts = Galtvort
Dumbledoor = Humlesnurr
Hagrid = Gygrid
Snape = Slur
Professor McGonnagal = Professor McSnurp
... and the enchantments, words and places.... Muggle = gomp, Hogsmead = Galtvang..... and on it goes with all the words/names....
He could easily have kept the original names... but hey, now every Norwegian fan has a double set of names xD I remember the two first films, when the dubbed it to Norwegian. O - M - G! If my DVD player could cry it would flood the entire globe... Anyway....
J.K. Rowlings story is unique in many ways, poor and living on benefits with a little daughter. Did you know that many of the chapters of the first book,
Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone, were written on napkins and the back of receipts? I once saw an interview with her saying that whenever she went to a coffee shop, she would take as many napkins as possible to have something to write on. This woman fought herself up, back from the very rock bottom. All these experiences have been put into the HP books.
To me HP has meant a lot. Many dreams (and nightmares) experienced, an explosion of fantasy in my mind, giving me a new way of looking at things. Stories is a way for me to take a break, to engulf myself into a book, forget about everything and really
see the story. After a while the words on the pages aren't really words anymore, they're pictures or action. That is how I view books now, as an amazing universe displayed on a piece of paper.

The HP characters has functioned as role models for many people for many ways. When faced with a dementor (a life sucking prison guard from the Azkaban prison) Harry, and others, would use
expecto patronum, a spell to scare away the dementors. But to make the spell successful one would have to think of the strongest/happiest memory ones got. To put this into real life, a kid is faced with a bully (dementor). No he/she can't use the
expecto patronum, but they could think of their happiest memory to focus and stay strong and stand their ground against the bully, not letting the bully tare the them down.
This films in a way marks the end of the childhood memory of a whole generation. A bit sad actually, no more Harry Potter films (as far as we know). I know J.K. Rowling have written several chapters of book 8 and 9, but she wants it to end here. And how to end it! The director David Yates, who's directed 5,6 and both 7s, can now be really proud, cause WOW! The shots are stunning, effects are great and the script is perfect.
The film gave me the chills all the way through...! I can't rally put in into words, but this was my status straight after the premiere:
I'm going to the movies some time next week to watch it again, Tuesday maybe? Anyway, it's bloody amazing. This (under) is the beginning of the big fight scene and professor McGonnagal's comment at the end is amazing!

Pottermore.com the new interactive site that J.K. Rowling is publishing! The speculations are massive to what it will include, but basically what's it's gonna be is the interactive development of HP. Of course I was refreshing that page when it was launched, but the servers crashed, so I didn't get a pre-entry :'( but I can't wait until fall!
