RED ONE WORKSHOP

OMG, almost a week since the last blog post, so sorry.

In the last post I promised to show and tell about the RED ONE camera seminar me and 6 others attended Thursday the 8th.

The RED ONE shoots in 4K resolution, which gives some pretty AMAZING pictures! For those of you that don't know how big 4K is:

The pink area is the standard resolution for a DVD. Then you have 720HD and 1080HD. If you have Blu-Ray player, you're watching 1080HD. Then you can imagine how massive and great the 4K pictures are with its 4096 x 2304 pixels. The image contains more information, more debt of colour and gives you a more "real" look. The great minds behind the RED cameras wanted to create something that would give you a better picture than 35mm film. No digital camera have been able to beat 35mm film with its many f-stops and high light sensitivity, before now. RED claims to have created a new sensor that will give you this.

Anyway, working with the RED ONE for a day was amazing! This is like porn to film students. Like I showed in the vlog post, the camera body alone costs 25 000 US$ (139 000kr/15 000£), so needless to say we were all very very careful. With started out with a technical lecture in the details around the RED cameras and he also compared RED ONE to DSLRs. Then we helped out in mounting this massive beast, with it's hard drives, batteries, viewfinders etc. After a quick lunch break, we headed out to film. One of our teachers had prepared a storyboard for us to shoot. So each of us did one shot each and we took turns changing lenses and filters, controlling focus and moving tripod and camera around. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!! :D What really special, is that the RED cameras shoots in RAW format, meaning separate Red, Green and Blue channels, white balance, exposure etc. That means that in editing, the editor can change the light setting from day to night, he can colour correct much better and easier.

HDR still picture, three different exposures.            Soruce: klikk.no
Another feature on the RED Epis camera, is HDRx. For those of you that have done photography for a while, youæll recognise HDR, High Dynamic Range imagining. This is basically taking three (or more) different exposures and merge them together. One dark, one normal and one light, that's the basis of HDR. What HDRx is, is basically LIVE HDR. The Epic camera can shoot in HDR. This makes shooting where it's different lighting much easier. Let's say you're filming in a room with a window and it's daylight outside. You can adjust the exposure to the outside, but that makes the inside under exposed. If you adjust the exposure to inside, the outside would be over exposured. What you could do is to use lights to mimic the conditions outside, so you get a even exposure. With the RED Epic you don't have to. It shoot with different exposures, giving you a perfect exposed picture. That's pretty cool!

RED ONE is growing rapidly and being used both in TV series and films. For example the new Pirates of the Carrabian or, one of my favorite films, Jumper. Or series like ER and Pretty Little Liars.

Anyway, that day was amazing! Had so much fun and learned loads about RED ONE. (But we only scratched the surface). Like I said, IT WAS AMAZING! :D

Seen this yet? Katy Perry's new music video, released 12th of June. I loved it! So fun. Did you?

MY LITTLE BABY

Back in Norway now, so weird. Cars driving in the "right" side, strangers talking Norwegian and wooden houses xD Today I've been painting the new add-on to the house where I'm gonna live. My own little "apartment". We were hoping to have it done by Monday, but since all the stores are closed until Tuesday because of Pentecost (pinsen). It's so bloody annoying sometime that Christianity is the state religion! Why the hell do all of us have to suffer just because some people like to celebrate the 50th day after Jesus's supposedly resurrection?!? It's fine, have you beliefs and I do respect that, but do the whole country need to shut down... Ah well, hopefully we'll be done by next week so I can move my stuff down.

My little baby is alive again! My lovely Toyota 92' model <3 It broke down just before I moved to Wales, so for the Christmas and Easter holiday I didn't have a car.... which was utter pain. But thanks to my lovely and amazing family I now got a working and polished car :D Bus is OK, but it.....takes.....so.....long..... At least from my village, Åros. To Drammen, one of the closest cities, it takes 30 min by car and 55 min with bus and it's only one bus an hour (on weekdays). I love my car, it's light, fast, fun and have been through so much in and with this car. If you wonder about the decor; my mom's first car was a Volkswagen Beetle which she painted pink  and added green footprints, as if someone had walked over the car. Naturally I had to follow in her footsteps, literally. So my car has got black footprints on it.

Thanks again Family! :D

But now, good night peeps!

LEAVING SWANSEA FOR THE SUMMER :'(

Bye bye halls, it's been fun. Our room is now empty except for our luggage. We moved all of our stuff into the new house yesterday and our rooms are sorted. I know this film is shit quality and it was only intended for us see the WHOLE room, but what the hell. I'll some better pictures when I come back to Swansea in mid September. It's a perfect house, brand new, no'ones lived there and the landlord is awesome. We pay 285£ per person per month, so that's good.

Forgot to film Chris's room to, so it's one more room in the house than you lot see. 5 in total.

It's both sad and great that the summer holiday here. I'm gonna miss Swansea and all my friends here. I'm even gonna miss the LC2 (gym). And of course the beaches, how nice they are :D But get to see my friends and family back in Norway! It's probably gonna be weird the first week or two, to speak Norwegian everywhere, Norwegian coins and the people I know in Norway. You get so used to living in a different place, so going back to the old seems just weird and in the beginning just wrong. In the summer I'm gonna be working a bit in the grocery store, jippi...., but I'll most likely say like "Thank you", "You're welcome" etc for many weeks. It's just embedded in my brain now. You use the word "Sorry" all the time, even out on town when people are absolutely smashed.

From one our many nights out on town:

This year has  been one of the most exciting and best years in my life and hopefully the next two are gonna be great. I've met some amazing people and gotten some great friends and classmates. I love our class, we push each other and work together. I've ventured into the world of analog photography, with the help of my lovely photography friends. Tried some new things here and there, simply just enjoyed life. I'm almost counting the days until I'm coming back, either 10th or 13th September. A bit sad that some of my Norwegian aren't coming back, Janne, Silje, Elise and Christoffer, but we'll definitely see each other again. Christoffer is doing a internship in London and maybe Elise too :D

We had a very nice time out last night, came home at 04:00 xD AND to all you camera lovers, tomorrow I'm gonna tell you all and show you clips, from the RED 4K camera workshop I attended today. RED 4K camera is like the Caddilac in the film industry now a days or simply porn for a film student, haha. Stay tuned :D

As I always say, live your life to the full, no regrets and let no one stop you!!!! :D

Heard the new  single Jason Derulo? Love it ;)

DON'T STOP THE PARTY

First of all, congrats to Jai McDowall for winning Britain's Got Talent. He has a good voice and seems like a great guy. I was also hoping for Ronan Park, during the semi-finals, but he was absolutely terrible in the final yesterday! He butchered that song, Kelly Clarkson - Because of you.... Cute boy, good voice, but not for that song if you ask me. (Sorry if you can't view this outside UK, but just do a quick YouTube search if it doesn't work)
                                   Jai (winner)                                                                           Ronan

Today I woke up at 13 I think and had breakfast around 14-15 ish xD You see, Alex, Johan and me went up to Mountain Dew (local pub) to have a few pints and play some darts. Normally they close 01, but this time they just "closed the curtains" for the general public. That means the party kept on and the smokers were allowed to smoke inside. We kept it going until 04:30, then the bartender wanted to go home, so me and Johan stumbled down the hill.

Other than that, today a group of us lovely Norwegians headed down to a thai restaurant in the Marina (can't remember the name). I tried a seafood dish with loads of different seafood. It was good, but boring. For me seafood tastes all the same, almost, it tastes like seafood... But had a good time :D

Heard this on the Official Chart show on Radio1 today, gonna be in all the clubs I reckon.
